As I noted on Sunday, Kendrick Lamar’s 2013 was more or less a victory lap. And, really, the same can be said for all of TDE: the roster’s presence was definitely felt throughout the year, but without a proper mixtape or album, fans were left wanting a bit more.
Look for that to change in 2014. Per Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith himself, the Cali camp has some big plans for the new year:

A few thoughts:
1. TDE has yet to release a dud mixtape or album. And considering the talent present, that isn’t a fluke. If six projects really are on the horizon, that should be a hell of a haul. That being said…
2. Part of me wishes that Top Dawg would act like he’s been here before. Yes, his TDE imprint is still one of the hottest names in the industry. But times change, and posses come and go. Reference 50 Cent and how untouchable he thought G-Unit was back in the day or Cam with Dip Set. Humility never hurt, and the more pressure you put on your artists, the higher the fall can truly be. That being said…
3. Bring on the Black Hippy album. Like yesterday, please.
