Every year the Detroit Auto Show lures in manufacturing companies, engineers, and car enthusiasts alike to the armpit of the America (sorry LC and Beware). And usually every year, you see the same cars that are already on the road with some minor upgrades, along with some crazy, one-of-a-king concept vehicles that will never see the light of day. We love it, though.
Once in a while, there comes a year where that car we see all the time makes a splash, and it leaves the auto world buzzing, and waiting to get behind the wheel of that new whip. This year there were a few, some exotics and some are made right here in the US of A. Here are the cars that caught our eyes at the Detroit Auto Show 2014.
2015 Cadillac ATS
Fresh off the heels of winning the 2013 MotorTrend Driver’s Car of Year, the ATS still stuns as Cadillac’s compact luxury option.
With its reveal being somewhat extravagant, this concept looks to out-class the current TL edition already offered by Acura.
Kia GT4 Stinger
Korean manufacturer Kia impressed with this tiny sports concept that packs 315 ponies from its 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder.
Bentley Continental GT V8 S
The already super-powered GT gets a boost in HP in this concept, but still as flashy as ever.
Info: Bentley Motors
The Japanese automaker had fun showcasing their Supra-influenced FT-1. First designed for Gran Turismo 5, this concept actually made it to real life.
2015 Ford F-150
The real headliner of the show, the new F-150 will be made with a military-grade aluminum body. The lighter body (700 lbs lighter!) and re-tweaked chassis makes for better fuel economy and quicker acceleration.
Mercedes GLA 45 AMG Compact SUV
This crossover concept stole the hearts of soccer moms with its slick style and shape, but the AMG tag promises to catch sport cars fans eyes.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
We’ve known about this new ‘Vette because of leaked pics from weeks ago. But seeing it on the show floor just displays how kickass the Z06 really will be.
2015 Subaru WRX STi
Rally fans were surrounding around the new WRX, especially with details of its improved engine, pushing 305-horsepower.
2015 Chrysler 200
Chrysler is still trying to find its place in the sun with its new ownership, and their new mid-sized sedan proved to be a promising attempt. Stated to be an affordable family car, the sporty transmission and elegant interior says otherwise.
2015 BMW M4 Coupe
The M4 has been anticipated since last year, and it was a standout at the auto show. Other manufacturers always watch to see the moves BMW makes, and the new M4 will no lose.
Porsche 911 Targa
The Targa came and went, but the German perfectionists have brought it back with a modern twist.
