Nike’s Zoom HyperRev is another one of those mold-breaking designs from the mind of Leo Chang. The model’s not officially Kyrie Irving’s signature shoe but they were crafted with his style of play in mind and Nike picked him to debut them.
The HyperRev poses as a sort of throwback to models like the Huarache Basketball model in a sense that the upper – geared with Flywire technology, flexible foam lining within the mesh and a strap – allows the foot a full range of motion while shoe stays locked on tight. The cushioning features full-length Zoom sitting low for a close feel and responsiveness. Nick Engvall’s got a more accurate, five-point breakdown that can be read here.
Since I have zero intentions of hooping anytime soon, I suppose the attraction for me is the idea of a young player attached to a model much like how previous generations had Barkley, Ewing, etc. tied to certain basketball lines from the brands. At $120, the Zoom HyperRev isn’t a bad option to explore for anybody who plays. Find a coupon or use a rewards program and there’s a steal for under retail.
