It’s a funny coincidence that The Clipse popped back into my rotation this week, and Pusha T graces us with the video for perhaps the most underrated cut from My Name Is My Name, “Suicide.”
And while I’ve been primarily bumping selections from a weird combination of their later works as well as Re-Up Gang material, “Suicide” found its way up to the top more than a few times. It was a record that helped mix up the otherwise darker, sullen content of the rest of the album. It also helped to add a bit of flavor without which the project could have perhaps risked falling into a monotonic lull.
And of course, the Beats Pill makes a few not-so-subtle flashes here. Has anyone listened to it yet? It’s Beats’ most pushed item these days, and I’d be curious to see if it’s remotely worth the enormous price tag, or if it’s like they most of their other products. Prior experience would have me leaning towards the former, but who knows.
