The only way anyone missed the sounds of Que’s “OG Bobby Johnson” is because they either live under limestone or they don’t actually deal with what the streets and clubs (and later, radio) are playing. But, if “Clip So Long” is anyone’s initial intro to the Atlanta rapper, they should walk away with their eyes and ears wide open. Sonny Digital does his part on the production, keeping things ominous, sparse and clean so Que and, holy shit, Juicy J* can do dirty work.
Que just signed on with Atlantic, where DJ Drama’s apparently helping to A&R his career. First up will be a new mixtape, Who Is Que?, releasing in January, and should provide additional answers for those still listening for more.
* — Let me say that again. HOLY SHIT Juicy went in on his verse. That man ain’t rapped with that much punch behind his voice in his whole career. He’s on here rappin’ like they got his momma tied up in a basement and her life depends on his verse.
