One of the best is back for round two as adidas drops photos and release info for the new and improved Energy Boost 2 model.
Runner’s World co-signed the the first version in terms of energy return, which is saying a lot since they have to say a lot about running in shoes. If that’s not convincing enough, I give them my two thumbs up and my word is bond these things are great, which is also saying a lot since I buy and wear a lot of damn shoes. Therefore, I hope and fully expect version two, the Energy Boost 2, to be equally as good as V1.
I know you’re wondering what’s so different about them.
It’s not that they’re so much that they’re different as they’re just insanely comfortable. Obviously, shoes aren’t a one size fits all deal and everyone is going to favor different characteristics. I prefer a happy medium between those minimalist styles that don’t protect the foot from the ground and sit too low versus some models that are too stiff. The Energy Boost sit right at that acceptable height for me. The actual technology itself creates is a very pillow-like feel that lasts from the time you lace them up to the time you slip them off. adidas Global Creative Director James Carnes gave an interview where he phrased it best: “endless energy.” The stuff isn’t just good for runners, but anybody who’s on their feet all day for work, travel, etc.
So far, the biggest changes I’m reading regarding V2 is that there’s more energy return – an experience enhanced by adidas’ continued work and research with partner BASF – and “a one-piece translucent heel to mid-foot fit cage” that locks the foot down. We’ll see how these play out but the first Boost was my absolute favorite tech advancement of last year and the Boost 2 should give the Stripes a leg up on the comp for 2014, too.
The adidas Energy Boost 2 launches February 26 for $160 and will be available in a massive 11 colorways – six for men and five for women – at adidas.com. They can go ahead and take my money for the ‘Solar Blue’ pair pictured here.
