Way back in 2002 when Eminem and the rest of his Aftermath confidants were taking aim at Benzino, and by proxy The Source, with some of the most scathing diss records this side of Hit Em Up, XXL became sort of a safe haven for the Interscope talent pool. So much so that Elliot Wilson gained a bit of a reputation for having a bias towards The House That Dre Built.
Twelve years later, with magazines on the fringe XXL gives us what would have been a doozy back in the early 2000s: a cover with not only Eminem and birthday boy (er, man) Dr. Dre, but also Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine.
The topic here isn’t Benzino and “The Sauce” (but that would be funny), but instead Beats Music (which coincidentally XXL is involved with, putting together playlists for the service), their streaming music service that looks to be Beats’ newest venture in their quest to take over the world.
The newest issue of XXL hits newsstands March 11th.
