Found with a syringe in his arm.
That’s the description that was used when the body of 46-year-old actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman was discovered around 11:30 this morning in his New York City apartment. By the syringe was an envelope with what is believed to be heroin. Making the scene even more grim was Hoffman speaking in interviews last year admitting he “fell off the wagon” after 23 years of sobriety.
Hoffman captured an Oscar in 2005 for Best Actor for his role in Captoe. Other films PSH starred in were Nobody’s Fool, Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski and The Ides of March. Per Hoffman’s IMDb page, he was in the process of filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 slated for a November 2015 release.
