Rashad’s last project – 2012’s Museum (a TSS pick for “Most Slept-On” record of the year) – was a sprawling, 18-track album that was equal parts smooth and knock. So, we can excuse the singer-producer if his work last year was confined mostly to behind the boards and featuring on hooks. He seems about set to gear back up on the solo tip in 2014.
Rashad’s new single, “First Move,” wraps his characteristically warm production around a sample of Art of Noise’s hauntingly seductive 1985 single “Moments in Love,” creating the sort of sonic dynamic that lifts up much of his work.
An adjoining project, The Quiet Loud, is currently in the works.
