Rozay just dropped his latest single en route to Mastermind and this one’s a doozy as he made the move to remake Notorious B.I.G.’s classic record “You’re Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You)” with Rick Ross.
The 2014 version is aptly titled “Nobody” and borrows most of the elements of the original as well as an interpolation of the same hook courtesy of French Montana. Not to mention Diddy’s shit-talking interspersed throughout. On one hand, Ross is vocally the closest sounding emcee to Biggie as you’re going to get with his deep, husky vocal tone. And, on the other, the re-up is a sacrilegious, lazy bastardization of the grand finale on the bona fide classic, Life After Death.
Ricky does his usual thing, but is it really enough even compare Big’s?
Easy answer: obviously not.
“Nobody” isn’t the first time Diddy’s compared Ross to the fallen iconic emcee, but the previous comments were brushed over as drunken ramblings. However, the record does fit Ross’ manufactured persona and it’s certainly going to get people talking in advance of his March 4th release date. Chalk up that aspect of it as a W, but its close proximity to the OG is surely going to turn away a lot of the heads.
