It’s not too difficult to predict what Rick Ross will bring to the table with his sixth LP, Mastermind. There was sure to be some stellar production (see “The Devil Is A Lie”), some mafioso/drug dealing anthems, and A LOT of extravagant braggadocio. In my head it drew the comparison that Ricky could be the rap Wolf Of Wall Street. Cocaine, money, women. Overwhelming excess, and then some more since Puffy’s been hired on to executive produce the project.
And the recently leaked tracklist all but confirms that. Between Rozay’s usual arsenal of heavy-hitting features like Jay-Z, Kanye West, and even one with former foe turned friend Young Jeezy, it’s probably safe to surmise that there will be more than a couple bangers. And judging from the song titles his subject matter is likely going to be on par with the rest of his discography. Not to mention, he doesn’t usually have any outwardly bad records, instead he stays within a safe zone, going with the formula.
And so, is it too early to give Rick Ross his Cigs already? If the Jeezy-assisted “War Ready” is any indication, I think we know what’s on the horizon.
Mastermind arrives March 4th.
