Life comes at you fast.

Eleven months ago, the Jets traded Darrelle Revis and his reconstructed knee to Tampa Bay. Soon after, the Bucs made the cover corner the highest paid defensive back in NFL history with a six-year, $96M contract. The catch was not one dollar was guaranteed.

Fast forward to the present and Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier and the Bucs are already prepared to enter next season without Revis. Reports have surfaced if Tampa does not find a trade suitor – difficult because not many teams are chomping at the bit to pick up a $16M per season DB – they will release the man who once dropped these dope “Wolf Grey” Nikes before Wednesday. The importance of Wednesday stems around the fact Revis is owed a $1.5M roster bonus and the fourth-round pick sent to New York becomes a third-rounder if the 28-year-old remains on the roster by 4:01 p.m.

According to ESPN’s sources, both sides have discussed the possibility of a restructured contract but have not come to any sort of agreement. Some stigmas travel well, I see.
