Barring a major setback, the countdown for Future Mayfield’s sophomore set, Honest, is officially underway.
“Covered N’ Money” is more Super Future than R&Future. From the feds keeping close surveillance, big money being moved around and disposing of cell phones, the whole mob-life angle is on full display.
As for what happens next with “Covered,” piecing together the facts screams more “street single” than “commercial single.” That’s because Future’s next look into the album is the Kanye West-featured, “I Won,” where both are said to be speaking directly to their ol’ ladies, Ciara and Kim K.
“When you have songs like that, they empower women,” said Future. “I just feel like I want to big up women just in general, from my lady to his lady, to all women, to make sure they get their light on them and just knowing they’re important.”
“That’s rare when you get a Kanye verse back in one day, so you know it’s one of them records when he does the verse and sends it back in 24 hours. That’s the icing on the cake with the album,” said Future.
Honest hits shelves April 22.
