Dom Kennedy once said, “If you happy being you, I f*ck with you off the strength.” Reflecting that same logic, Tevin’s preference in men or women doesn’t mean anything personally. Hell, Luther was rumored to swing the other way his entire career and it didn’t stop that guy from producing some of the greatest love records this side of the Civil Rights Movement.
That being said, calling myself familiar with Tevin Campbell’s catalog would be a lie and Lent has already started. But as one of the foremost performed songs of talent shows in the early, mid and late ’90s, “Can We Talk” remains one of the unquestioned greatest R&B singles in my 28 years of living.
