Jabari Parker, Doug McDermott’s Career-High Nights Lead To Double-Digit Wins For Duke, Creighton

By / 03.09.14

Andrew Wiggins wasn’t the only national collegiate commodity on full display on Saturday. Jabari Parker’s career-high 30 points and 11 boards paced Duke to a 93-81 victory over North Carolina. Off the court, Parker has made news recently by revealing he isn’t sure whether or not he will enter this June’s NBA Draft, labeling his own desire for improvement as the reason.

It’s hard to knock a kid for wanting to remain in school. Jabari, however, is seen as the most polished freshman in the country with a savvy mix of both inside and outside scoring abilities. And perhaps the most polished college player, period.

Elsewhere, whenever a person touts the honor of passing Oscar Robertson, they’re doing somewhat decently for themselves with a basketball. That would be No. 13 Creighton’s Doug McDermott (who snapped a picture with billionaire Warren Buffett prior to tip off) whose 45 points and seven rebounds moved him past The Big O and Hersey Hawkins for seventh in career points in NCAA history with 3,011.

Creighton waltzed away with an 88-73 victory over Providence and momentum heading into this week’s Big East Tournament. McDermott’s point total was the third most by a conference player and the most since Marshon Brooks’ 52 in 2010-2011.
