Nothing like antics by Swaggy P to get a day rolling, especially a hump day. The Lakers guard took a last second long-range shot at the end of the third quarter and, thinking he’d just nailed a buzzer-beater, turned and walked away a little early. Unfortunately for him, he did not hit it.
Fortunately for him, his team didn’t need the bucket since they’d already put up 51 in the quarter while coasting to the 31-point win over the Knicks by a score of 127-96 at Staples Center. The Lakers shot 73% from the floor in the third, going 19 out of 26 and setting a franchise record for most points in a quarter. That shot attempt aside, Young could do no wrong after scoring 20 in the game and hit all five of his other three-point attempts.
Just when you think NY can’t sink any lower, they go down to the
Sparks Lakers. As my man Q said, the “only thing that would make this complete is Kendrick sitting courtside with a Yankees hat on, and he smiles and winks at the TNT cameras.” LA’s third quarter scoring outburst broke a New York franchise for most points given up in a quarter. The loss also guaranteed the Knicks will wind up with a losing record this season with their 42nd loss.
Two historic franchises both locked in losing. But since the Knicks took Tuesday’s L, we’ll focus on their struggle for today.
