Apparently, the po’lice aren’t just donut and brutality fiends; they also have a thing for White Castle as well. Two Brooklyn men are suing the New York City Police Department after they claim they were arrested for refusing cops their White Castle sliders, famously known for their bubble guts-like side effects.
Brooklyn residents Danny Maisonet and Kenneth Glover say that they procured White Castle meals on Halloween 2012 (just after Hurricane Sandy) when they ran into cops who were rounding up a group of men suspected of looting a supermarket on Neptune Avenue. The cops allegedly demanded their food (the Daily News notes: “it’s unclear if they were kidding or starved out of their minds”), and Maisonet and Glover obviously refused. [Gothamist]
Glover and Maisonet also claim the officers struck them in the head with their flashlights before arresting and stealing their White Castle sliders. The men were charged with obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct. The charges against Glover and Maisonet were later dropped and now they’re suing.
Can’t help to think the whole ordeal would make for a great Harold and Kumar spin-off. Kenny And Danny Go To White Castle And Get Beat Up By Cops For Their Sliders. It’ll obviously be a dark comedy.
