Jordan Brand hasn’t jumped the shark quite just yet with this whole ‘Infrared’ trend. The Air Jordan 2 Retro ‘Infrared’ might not be a hybrid, but it takes cues from future releases for a fresh take on the oft overlooked shoe. For some reason the 2s and 9s don’t get much love from the sneaker community but this new look may change things, along with the general release designation attached to them.
The Dunk leather on the toebox is still ever present and that probably won’t change for any wide release of the 2s. But add some speckling pattern found on the Jordan 4s on the toe cap and rear panels and incorporate the tasteful amount of infrared and these are good to go.
Fans of the cult classic will be ecstatic to know that the price tag is now $150, only $10 above the Jordan 1s and still less expensive than any retro release starting after them. Getting loaned out some magic from the color of the 4s and 6s definitely bolster the case for this release. And it sure beats a bullsh*t 6 Rings release.
The Air Jordan 2 Retro ‘Infrared’ drops April 12th.
