Big Blue Nation, Rejoice: The Harrison Twins Are Returning

That dude who preemptively and incorrectly inked himself with a University of Kentucky national championship tattoo this season probably should’ve waited a year.

Because the team’s dynamic freshman twin guards, Andrew and Aaron Harrison, have decided to return for their sophomore seasons.

Both Andrew and Aaron announced this afternoon via Twitter their decisions; however, Yahoo! Sports had cited sources about the announcements earlier in the day. The twins’ father, Aaron, told ESPN that “they wanted to stay in school…. They had to weigh going back to school and improving and maturing. All the things added up to that.”

The Harrisons join a, let’s put it this way, very good Kentucky squad next season. Four others from the Wildcats’ national runner-up team return, joined by four top-25 recruits in the ESPN 100 from the class of 2014. Many expect Kentucky to nab the preseason No. 1 ranking when it’s released.

Both Aaron and Andrew could’ve went into this year’s Draft and been selected, but their prospects were as mid- to late-first round selections in what’s regarded to be a stacked draft class. Their father admitted that they’ll be going back to school to improve and mature–probably to enhance their Draft stock for next year–so why not try and grab a national championship trophy while they’re at it?

At this point, a national championship is not a given. What is assured, however, is next year’s Wildcats will be f*cking huge.
