When just about any rapper drops a track called “Hardest Song Ever,” the obvious assumption is that their braggadocio would be on max. Yet, when an intellectually-sound MC like Locksmith makes such a bold proclamation, there’s got to be more to the story.
As expected, Lock’s latest single isn’t a knocker by any means, but rather a gripping and heavy hitting introspective into the harrowing details that affected this Richmond, Ca spitter’s youth and took years to overcome via the very transparency that makes this track so great. His whole catalogue, actually.
A Thousand Cuts, drops April 15.
