After a five-day ordeal, NBA commissioner Adam Silver has officially dropped the hammer on Los Angeles Clippers principal owner Donald Sterling.
Silver announced at a press conference that Sterling is banned for life from all NBA related activities. That means no NBA games or practices and he cannot be present at any Clippers facilities. No business or player/personnel decisions and he is barred from NBA board of governors meetings.
Silver also handed out the largest fine allowable via the NBA constitution, $2.5 million dollars, and the funds will be donated to anti-discrimination organizations as voted on by NBA and Players Association.
Silver noted that he has the full support of the owners throughout the league to oust Sterling as an owner, and will do everything in his power to force the sale of the Clippers.
