PARTYNEXTDOOR’s influence can be heard in the heavy ambiance of Drake’s recent “Days In The East” – PND did co-produce the song after all – and now he’s put his own spin on the record with “West District” (a nod to his Mississauga roots, perhaps).
Adopting an almost Southern trap-tinged cadence, PARTY lets the creative energy flow both ways, allowing bit of Drake’s sentimentality to seep into his world (“I don’t only want that shit tonight/I want that shit forever”). The big draw through remains PND’s sound and vibe: a deeply textured, atmospheric take on R&B that’s as finely crafted as anything going at the moment.
