In this day and age, it’s hard not to throw a side-eye at someone who still has a dollar sign in their name, but Well$ is not one to miss. At a mere 19 years of age, the Congolese-American rapper has a straightforward, no-nonsense delivery that beguiles his youth on “Dreams Of An Insomniac.” Though the idea of staying on the right side of the law and pursuing rap is not a new one, his candid approach makes the song worth a listen.
Also worth checking out is his song “Lil Tommy,” which partially based off his cousin being incarcerated but also addresses bullying, a topic that’s frighteningly relevant in these ages unfortunately. Between these two songs, his upcoming project MTSYD: The Revenge OF The African Booty Scratcher sounds like it will be full of relatable, nonfiction raps.
