Despite being relatively healthy this season, what sucks is not so much how Amar’e Stoudemire’s body turned him into a shell of his former self and the bane of many Knicks fans existence. Time catches up with everyone at some point, and plus there’s the whole “made over $140M and counting in his career” factor.
What sucks is many will remember him for the gargantuan contract and overall failed stint in New York that was largely beyond his control.* Sure, his knees are made of Pixie Stick dust nowadays thanks to three surgeries during his Big Apple tenure, but believe you me there was once a time when STAT was undoubtedly one of most entertaining and freakishly athletic specimens roaming the planet.
Being that it’s the weekend and heavy lifting is better reserved for a Monday or Tuesday, let’s all retrace our steps down memory lane for Amar’e’s top 10 poster dunks. For the “seven seconds or less” disciples, climbing Mount Mutumbo is present, as is his destruction of Josh Smith and Shawne Williams. And for those truly up on game, guessing what lands in the top spot should be easy.
* – Always remember – prior to Carmelo’s arrival – the “Amar’e For MVP” 2010 campaign was a real (and legit) thing.
