Seemingly out of the blue, BOOTS recently dropped off his WinterSpringSummerFall mixtape, and while that may seem sudden and/or startling, I’d expect nothing less from Beyonce’s enigmatic muse. Or maybe he had a release date and it’s possible that I just didn’t remember it.
Like all the other songs that he’s released, the mixtape is 15 tracks of him singing, speaking, and at times, rapping, all over a constant stream of different types of instrumentals. As effortlessly as he goes in between the different deliveries, he travels between different instrumentals. Fusions of rock, hip hop, electronic, jazz, and more make up the soundtrack. Instead of it being an overwhelming listen, though, it’s light and fun.
