By a raising of virtual hands, how many of you wanted a new Curren$y-LE$ track?
Well here’s one, even if it’s not a quote-on-quote “original” production. Called “Game 2,” the two southern emcees take on Outkast’s “Two Dope Boyz (In A Cadillac)” instrumental.
Like pretty much everything he’s ever done, Curren$y’s lifestyle raps lackadaisically tumble forth over the boom-bap production like laundry in the dryer. While it’s not technically bad, it’s sort of listless and unengaged, but so it sometimes goes with Spitta.
LE$, on the other hand, shows what it takes to stand out, his voice flexing with a quick, nasty snap on lines like, “filthy way of living, yes, it’s part of the cycle/n*ggas quick to bring you down, they need to kill Michael.” Compared to Curren$y, LE$ is like a shot of espresso after quickly chugging a double-IPA. But it’s also an example of a track that emcees like LE$ can command, and those like Curren$y shouldn’t.
Not that fans shouldn’t listen to this song. They absolutely should, and they can find it below. It’s solid; however, we have the feeling that the pair have more enticing material together in the future.
