King avriel – “Judgment Day // Valley Idols”

King avriel rarely disappoints with her music. Over the course of the past several months, all of her songs have managed to strike a nerve with me, mostly done through her powerful songwriting abilities. Continuing the trend, she releases “Judgment Day/Valley Idols”* today as a precursor to her Thesis LP and the scenes she paints are vivid.

A short synopsis for the track: Avril’s the partner to criminal who’s done an imaginary crime and she’s faced with certain choices to make. That’s the tale on the surface. On a more personal level, the singer describes the record as “a metaphor for a more personal lived experience, how I covered up my uncertainty with a false sense of righteousness when making a tough decision, and the faith I drew on to help me find solace.”

I won’t spoil it and any more words will only hype it too much. I’ll just encourage clicking play, closing your eyes and listening to her reveal a story through song.
