Allow me to preface the next couple of sentences with this disclaimer. Kurupt’s an OG. While I haven’t paid much attention to his music in recent years, buddy’s still one of the MC’s who drew me into the West Coast as a young lad. At one point he was one of the rawest rappers breathing air into microphones and Dogg Food remains one of the better debut albums thine ears have been blessed to hear.
But Good Golly Miss Molly does his new song suck.
“Politically Correct” finds the Dogg Pound OG coming to the defense of V. Stiviano, the mistress in the Donald Sterling situation and the same woman whose house Kurupt was seen walking out of. Truthfully, I’m not sure what’s more off-putting: the fact Kurupt’s bars were nearly as depressing as watching the last episode of Fresh Prince or the fact he used the “Started From The Bottom” which would have been fine had the calendar read 2013 and not 2014.
Or maybe the fact Gotti closes “Politically” out stating the song was “for the minorities” as if the liberation of ignorance in America needed to cleanse itself was embedded in these three and a half minutes.
