Kith Football Equipment is coming out swinging on all other World Cup packs being released this year. The mad genius Ronnie Fieg is set to drop two pairs of soccer inspired kicks for the ages tomorrow. Quality and design are never an issue for any Fieg collaboration, but the chances of copping a pair definitely are.
The Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte 3 ‘KFE’ captures the American spirit to the T. It’s brash, bold, and might offend some folks. Also, it’s probably the only gold any American will be sporting in terms of World Cup glory. Am all gold shoe isn’t my steez but I recognize and appreciate the craftsmanship involved in the making of these Gel Lytes. The mismatching accents and split tongue just screams out AMERICA, F*CK YEAH. Can’t go wrong with the perforated leather sockliner either.
My personal pick would have to be the Asics GT-II. Gold takes a backseat to Brazil’s national colors of royal blue, green and yellow. The blue suede is an attention getter without being obnoxious about it and the Asics logo gives just the right amount of shine to the matte appearance of the upper. All in all it’s a winner and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of Brazil’s soccer bros aren’t sporting this if they end up winning out.
This Kith release has a little something for both sides of the style fence. Hats off to Fieg for showing love to both his home country and host country for the beautiful sport’s greatest tournament. Now, if we could only have Fieg re-design that atrocious USA rally chant.
The Ronnie Fieg x Asics ‘KFE’ Pack releases at both Kith NYC locations June 28th, and online at KithNYC.com at 11am EST.
