G-Unit – “They Talked About Jesus”

For months, 50 Cent’s been saying how the rest of his G-Unit compatriots didn’t carry their own weight, instead opting to ride the coattails of his own fame. Well, “They Talked About Jesus” is the latest effort in the crew’s stash to show the general just how much things have changed.

In fact, Fif doesn’t even appear on this joint at all letting Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and an especial ferocious Young Buck take the keys and hit the throttle. It’s a great set of rhymes in its own merit, and even better, it looks like their collective foot will be on the gas the entire week, as new music is set to be released every day through Friday.

When the year is over, 2014 will most likely be typecast as the year of the reunion, but in the case of G-Unit, it’s also a refreshing throwback to how they came up in the early 2000s through the pre-Internet mixtape circuit. So far they’re following the same formula now, and between that element and the fact that Fifty just announced that Street King Immortal‘s release date will be September 16, the same day as his former-friend-turned-nemesis Game’s Blood Money La Familia, it should make for some interesting back and forth banter between the two to say the least. Both Curtis and Jayceon have almost an identical approach to marketing their albums (beef), and their mutual distaste for each other masks just how similar the two of them really are.
