After switching back and forth between mids and lows, looks like the Slim Reaper is sticking with lowtops for his signature. Like almost every release before it, the KD VII takes a stark design turn in this week’s upcoming release. The swoosh placement, and Zoom/Nike Air technology stick around. Seems like Durant isn’t a fan of Lunarlon cushioning, or perhaps adding it would be cost prohibitive. In any case, shout out to him for keeping his kicks as affordable as possible for buyers on a budget.
Breathability looks to take center stage based on the toe area. Smart move considering I felt like my feet were in a sauna with the VIs, and I didn’t even hoop in them. While I’m down with forefoot straps on shoes, the straps on the VIIs look like they were designed more for form than function. A welcome aspect since fans haven’t seen a strap since the IV. I’m not sold on if it will add any significant foot lockdown though. Not yet at least. Posite material also finesses its way onto the rear of the kicks, which will add durability but the overall weight may take a hit. We’ll all find out when these babies drop.
The Nike Zoom KD VII ‘USA’ releases June 28th at a retail price of $150.
