The LOX’s professional careers have taken them a thousands of miles from their Yonker home. Still they haven’t forgotten the city that helped raise then and they’ve found a way to give in one of the most unique ways: by giving the hood juices. That is they opened up a new location of the Juices for Life business in Yonkers, only a short distance away from the Whitney Young projects that once served as their home base.
In an area plagued by drugs and violence over the years, the D-Block duo hopes to bring positivity and a sign of light for the young people around them. Mayor Mike Spano, on hand for the ribbon-cutting, commended the two for their efforts to “reinvest in our community.”
For ‘Kiss, that meant not only bringing healthy choices but a bit of love to the community.
“We want to bring unity to the youth who are engaging in all of this nonsense,” he said. “Here, you pretty much know everybody. As I said before, love is love is our slogan. We don’t tolerate no violence. We’re going to try to settle them down, give them a juice, and help them rectify whatever differences they’re going through, because violence and juice don’t go together.”
This is the second Juices For Life location; the other is located in the Bronx.
