Some unfortunate news out of New Jersey this morning.
Former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock star–and everyone’s favorite EGOT winner–Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a deadly six-car pile-up in Cranbury Township around 1 a.m. He’s currently in intensive care at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick.
Morgan was traveling from a stand-up show in Delaware in a limo-bus when the crash, which involved two tractor-trailers, an SUV and two other cars, occurred. One person in Morgan’s vehicle, James McNair of Peekskill, N.Y., died, while four others, including Morgan, were injured.
Sgt. 1st Class Greg Williams confirmed to the AP that it was Morgan in the vehicle, but he wouldn’t release further details about the accident at this time.
Although Morgan is primarily known for his work on SNL and 30 Rock, his first big break came playing Hustle Man on Martin. Since 30 Rock concluded, Morgan has hosted the 2013 Billboard Music Awards and has continued to do stand-up comedy.
We’ll update more as information comes in. Until then, let Morgan’s 30 Rock character, Tracy Jordan, keep a smile on your face.
