adidas decided to bless me with a pair of their new Springblade Drive, an evolved version in the ever-growing Springblade family. The company calls the shoe their “most powerful, explosive shoe yet” which might be a reach but not too far of one.
As far as how these differ from previous released versions, the Drive feels much more flexible with both the 16 blades and the upper itself, which ultimately makes them more comfortable. They feel lighter, even though they’re technically a half ounce heavier than the original Springblade (13.6 ounces vs. 13.1). I haven’t had a chance to do any distance in them but my early take is they’re responsive enough to satisfy most casual runners.
And for those who want to rock them casually, the infrared colorway seen here is just as much of a convo starter as the blades themselves. The overall look of the Drive just seems like you’re ready to bust out in a sprint at any given moment. Cakemaster and I took the Drive to the track to shoot and the pics hopefully give a sense of how charged they look on-foot.
The Springblade Drive is available now at adidas retailers and online at adidas.com. Thanks again to MB and friends at the Stripes for sending these.
