Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Colombia means the squad’s only two wins away from a sixth World Cup trophy. Sounds good, right? Except Colombian defender Juan Camilo Zuniga struck a careless knee on Neymar’s back late in the game. Brazil’s top goal scorer received immediate treatment. Unfortunately, Brazil’s team doctor stated Neymar suffered a fractured vertebrae and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
Thiago Silva’s suspension over a dumb yellow card made Germany a tougher mountain to climb for Verde-Amarela. Keep in mind Thiago’s their team captain and best defender. Add Neymar’s injury and Brazil need that Dumb and Dumber hope for the road ahead.
Germany’s back four can look suspect since they don’t play with two natural full backs. They also have a habit of losing in semifinal matches. Yet Brazil’s attack lacks continuity and rely on special moments to pull ahead. A Hollywood hero has to step up on top of the 12th man putting the fear of God into Philip Lahm and the Funky Bunch. Either that or Brazil’s hampered squad approach the game of their lives shrouded in doubt.
