“I’ve never seen crack smoked so casually before! These n*ggas was sitting out front Starbuck’s smoking crack and drinking coffee! It was off the hook.” – Dave Chappelle on San Francisco
Here’s the clip if you’re wondering where that line’s from, which was a part of Dave’s 2004 For What It’s Worth special. So bet it’s the contextual lynchpin behind comedian Marcus Tisdale’s fake-smoking the drug all over the Bay Area city, which he found gave not one f*ck that he was cooking up in the middle of the street.
Seriously. Over eight minutes, not one person–or even horse-riding cops–bust up Tisdale’s smoking. Several people, including a portly old man in Giants gear, stop to stare at Tisdale, but only until the crosswalk flashes “go.” Then again, it is San Francisco–there are only several other American cities that can attest to how much they don’t care what you’re doing, as long as you’re not bludgeoning a corgi puppy in the street.
