Which one is the bigger news – A new Eminem song or a new Eminem album?
The album is the obvious answer. Marshall officially dropped the news via his Twitter on Sunday night. The project, titled ShadyXV, will be releasing on Black Friday. The project’s been rumored for months and Eminem’s referenced it on more than one occasion during the final shows of his current Monster tour with Rhianna. The Roman numerals could be considered a play on the 15 anniversary of his Slim Shady LP‘s release.
The smaller but still big news is the release of “Guts Over Fear,” featuring singer Sia. The song’s set to be included on the soundtrack for The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington and it could also appear on Shady XV. Either way, it’s hear now – and available on iTunes, too – so listen below and enjoy while waiting to see what a new Em album will bring.
Update 8/26/2014: Now we have more details on what to expect from ShadyXV. The “15” in the title refers to Shady Records celebrate their time in the came and the new project commemorates the label’s 15th anniversary with its fifteenth release.
The two-CD compilation features an album of the label’s greatest hits plus an album of new material from Eminem and Shady artists Slaughterhouse, Bad Meets Evil, D-12 and Yelawolf as well as “special guest-artist collaborations.” So while the release isn’t technically a new Eminem solo venture, there will be new Em music to be added to your iPod come Black Friday, November 24.
