The Whole Wu-Tang Clan Reunites On ‘Daily Show,’ Releases New Song ‘Ron O’Neal’

All that talk about infighting, disagreements, schedule conflicts, etc. went out the window for Wu-Tang Clan, on #WuWednesday, course. That’s when all nine members – plus a material reference to Ol’ Dirty Bastard – made an appearance on The Daily Show with John Stewart.

How the hell he pulled it off is anybody’s guess but you don’t see any written instructions on how Jesus turned water to wine, right? Whatever Stewart and the behind-the-scenes players did to make it happen, it did and there they were, all the Clan in front and at peace.

That doesn’t mean they didn’t address the issues, specifically Raekwon’s initial holdout from the project. “We trailblazers in the music business, we been around the world, we doing our job. I consider this a sport,” Chef said. “I think it’s important as an athlete of music to make sure that you’ve got your business together, make sure you feel happy in whatever you want to do. You just want to feel good about it and at the end of the day you’ve gotta have your i’s dotted and your t’s crossed in business, because we have families. We go out there and work for our families, so if I’m not gonna see my children and I’m out here doing a job, I think it’s important for me to go out there and do what I say I’m going to do, get back home to them and then hit up Disneyland.”

But it was more of what Ghostface said that sounded like chicken soup for the Wu fans’ soul. “This is my life right here, me and Abbott [RZA], this is my brotherhood, so we’ve been tight since day one. Soon as he said, ‘We coming back to do A Better Tomorrow,’ I’m always with it. I’m the one that likes for everything to be right, you know, from the stage show to the wardrobes and everything and everybody be on point. If one thing is off, it throws me off. But for the team — I’ll take one for the team. And I’ll continue. I don’t got a problem with that.”

Watch footage from the show in the clips provided as they debuted a new song from A Better Tomorrow titled “Ron O’Neal” (peep the audio for it below, too) as well as a performance of “Triumph.”
