Your Old Droog - Sleepers

Words By Ashan

Despite sticking to his guns of anonymity, summertime phenomenon Your Old Droog is still managing to move up the rap ladder without a face to a name, enlisting Mac Miller’s production alias Larry Fisherman to produce his latest release, “Sleepers…” The track comes shortly after Droog dropped his ode to NBC news anchor Tamron Hall in “On the News” which he let loose just weeks before.

Mac actually unexpectedly announced back in mid-July during a game of Connect-4 with MTV’s Rob Markman that he had been working with Droog. “You know who I f*ck with is that Your Old Droog. Droog is tight,” Mac said then. “Did you hear the sh*t I did with him? The world don’t need to know nothing. The world never knows anything”

Low and behold almost exactly a month later, we have a final product and it sounds on point. The production is textbook Fisherman, with a heady and spooky vibe that caters perfectly to Droog’s slow rolling and heavy flow. Droog even spits his last bars in a cappella for added emphasis and it hits hard as Mac samples Next’s “Too Close” to end out the track. Check out Droog’s latest release for yourself as we continue wonder about the phantom rapper who is somehow keeps finding a way to make noise this summer.
