Jordan’s initial inspiration for the Air Jordan 14 was lifted from the sleek lines of the Ferrari F355F1 expensive *ss sports car. While the similarities might have been subtle in the first releases, the Air Jordan 14 ‘Challenge Red’ pays direct homage to the luxury line without getting into trademark violation territory.
A shiny patent red upper might have made more sense, but seeing the cracking issues that came up with the Air Zoom Hyperflights, a supple suede was a better look. Just the right amount of carbon fiber on the midsole and swapping out the usual midfoot shank for a chrome material means that Jordan Brand has its ear to the e-streets. Sure, they’re not ‘Black Toes’ or ‘Last Shots,’ but it’s hard to hate on the Challenge Reds when you look at the details. Maybe too red for some folks, but at least it’s not another Infrared release.
The Air Jordan 14 ‘Challenge Red’ releases September 6th. Retail price will be $200.
