Again, 50 wastes absolutely no time getting out a video to pair with a recent song’s release. Before, it was “Pilot” while today he follows up the world premiere of his Dr. Dre-produced cut “Smoke” with an accompanying visual.
Beware and I disagree on the song itself. He seems to favor it. Me? I just really think 50’s doing everything right at the moment except making music that has the potential to catch on. The video’s creatively in tune, Fif’s back on his smack-talk game and he’s firing at will to get anticipation up for Animal Ambition’s arrival. He’s really doing a solid job, making his break from Shady/Interscope look like the right move.
Everything except these damn disposable songs. Take him out and insert just about any other artist and you’ll get the same final product. Radio-filler paid for by the label. Except now Curtis is bankrolling himself and, no matter how rich he is, he better spend wisely. Betting on these tracks is like pissing money out the window.
Luckily for 50, Beware’s got a knack for hearing hit singles and he’s way smarter than me about these types of matters.
