If you follow Just Blaze on Twitter, you felt his frustration late last week, when he thumbed the message above, indicating an unsanctioned leak of an incomplete song he produced for Twista and Busta Rhymes was about to cause a sh!t-storm of legal ramifications. The drip, which is called “Can You Keep Up” and could possibly even feature YelaWolf on the final version, will probably end up making a few lawyers some cake, as well as cost the song an actual spot on any album. All of which is such a bad look for everyone involved. As far as the artists go, not only do they now have to deal with judicial mumbo jumbo, but one of their potential gems falls through the cracks, as a result of someone else. For the fans, you’re pissed one of your own not only cost your ears the opportunity to hear some heat, but made the rest of us look petty along the way.
Still, not every fan needs to claim the newest of new, just to say they can pull some strings. Some of us actually respect the artists’ grind and would happily wait to hear our favorite MCs collaborate. Or, even better, dig up a few old collaborations between said artists, who in this case would be Mista Tung Twista and Bussa Buss.
So, instead of burning down the momentum of people we look up to, let’s celebrate the past history of these two rapid-fire rhymers, while we patiently wait for them to pen the next chapter.
1. Busta Rhymes Feat. Twista – “Break Ya Neck” (Remix)
Is there really a better way to start off the show, then by bringing up this Dr. Dre-produced vertebrae-breaker, from Busta’s Genesis album? While your head is surely nodding, I’m assuming you agree.
2. David Banner Feat. Twista & Busta Rhymes – “Like A Pimp (Remix)”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this remix to David Banner’s breakout single was the first time Twist officially kicked rhymes with Busta. And, as a result, all they saw was fatties drop to the flo’. That’s probably why there’s five more entries in this post.
3. Tech N9ne Feat. Ceza, Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes, D-Loc The Gill God – “Worldwide Choppers”
One the highlights from Tech’s 6 & 7’s pitted your two favorite syllabic slayers against their competition from across the globe. Guess who came out on top?
4. DJ Kay Slay Feat. Busta Rhymes, Layzie Bone, Twista & Jaz-O – “60 Second Assassins”
*Jaz-O closes eyes and gives the slight fist pump*
5. Travis Barker Feat. YelaWolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes & Lil Jon – “Let’s Go!”
Featuring a lineup similar to that of Just Blaze’s leaked track, this rock-infused riot-maker from Travis Barker’s debut solo album will shake the cobwebs off that old drumset that’s been sitting in your basement for three years.
6. DJ Khaled Feat. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Mavado, Twista, Birdman, Ace Hood, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Bun B, Game & Waka Flocka – “Welcome To My Hood” (Remix)
That Khaled sure knows how to throw a party, doesn’t he?
7. Chris Brown Feat. Twista & Busta Rhymes – “Look At Me Now” (Remix)
This almost didn’t get included, simply because C. Breezy’s year-old single has gotten more spins than every Tilt-A-Whirl in existence since it debuted last Winter. But, ever since Twista added his verse, the OG became nonexistent in the mind of most rap fans and earned it some extended play along the way.
