On July 16, 1999, director Rick Famuyiwa’s coming of age flick The Wood released in theaters. Set in Inglewood, California during the ’80s/early ’90s, the film examined the teen years of the now-adult trio of Mike (played by Omar Epps), Roland (Taye Diggs), and Slim (Richard T. Jones). While it was far from a smash hit at the box office, the movie became a favorite of many over the years, with its most memorable scenes and quotes sticking with people till this day.

Being that today marks 15 years since the release of this classic, we feel now is as good a time as any to share the eight most important lessons we took away from The Wood. So, sit back, take a trip down memory lane and enjoy.
