And This Is Why ‘The Boondocks’ Fourth Season Will Probably, Most Likely Suck.

In some of the more confusing and disappointing news we’ll be sharing today, all of that excitement for The Boondocks return just went from on high down to zero. As of the moment, the show’s current status is an awkward place since it looks like Aaron McGruder won’t be involved with Season 4.

Per The Root, Adult Swim reportedly confirmed the show creator’s absence from the upcoming season in a recent press release, which stated, “This season was produced without the involvement of Aaron McGruder, when a mutually agreeable production schedule could not be determined.?” For his part, McGruder’s been updating fans using the Black Jesus Facebook page for several days, issuing statements saying The Boondocks’ Facebook page had been “hijacked” when he wasn’t able to access the page.

Huey and Riley emerged from the mind of McGruder all the way back in 1997 while he was a student at Maryland. It was his sharp, honest satire that brought so many readers in first through the comic strip. Is a Boondocks return without McGruder really a Boondocks return? Also, where does that leave the Black Jesus sketch show that we just learned about a few days ago?

With the April 21st premiere date around the corner, the return just took a bittersweet turn for fans who waited four long years to see the show return.
