The dopest part of Sway’s RapFix Live is the segment where he shows an established rapper a song by a newbie and asks him to critique it. So, take one of Hip-Hop’s best kept secrets, a young up-and-comer from New York by the name of Adrian Lau. Most people were probably checking the episode for Lupe Fiasco (the same one that Tins wrote on earlier), but when Sway played a clip from “Blue Dreams,” unbeknownst to most, he may have set the wheels in motion to give some very much-deserved attention to this relatively unheard of talent.
Lau’s sound is still raw and unpolished, but there’s so much potential in him, it’s almost tangible. As Lupe pointed out in the clip he still hasn’t completely distinguished his sound from his influences, but that nitpicking aside, “Blue Dreams” is hands down an enjoyable record worth listening to and Harry Fraud just keeps on upping his stock with every track that he touches.
