Most shoes need their story told for them by a brand’s internal marketing arm or via an ad agency. However, certain ones can speak for themselves and the ‘Double Nickel’ Jordan 10s are one of those joints that are self-sufficient.
It’s always fascinating that the shoe that wasn’t even made for MJ is one he made history in when he lit the Knicks up for 55 points at Madison Square Garden only five games removed from that ill-fated foray into baseball. Twenty years later and almost to the date (March 29, 1995), Jordan Brand is paying homage to Money’s monstrous game with the next in the series of 10s we’ve seen released in recent seasons, remastered and complete with the 45 on the ankle, a nod to the jersey number Jordan wore in his 1994-95 return.
The Air Jordan 10 ‘Double Nickel’ releases this Saturday, March 28 at Nike.com and the usual round of JB retailers. So, imagine getting the shoes and that Mitchell and Ness jersey, too. Game, set and match for spring, summer and beyond.
