Given the massive success of the Jordan 11, Tinker had some pretty big shoes to fill with the Jordan 12. And boy did he do it justice. Dubbed the ‘Taxis’ for the taxi cab yellow used in the carbon fiber on the shank of the shoe, Hatfield took the less is more approach and came through with a gem. A full grain leather upper and minimal use of red on the shoe and the durable construction, the 12s were found damn near anywhere fashionable folks wanted to be.

During the mid to late ’90s when huge air bubbles with brash Air Max symbols were popping, Jordan went a decidedly different route with simplicity and smooth contoured lines. Good call Tinker. Part design ingenuity, part aesthetics, and a whole lot of the popularity of the man wearing them, the success of the Jordan 12 was evident when more and more stores started selling out earlier than usual.

A dope shoe with durability will pique the interest of even the most casual of Jordan connoisseurs. We’ve all seen this in pretty much any higher-than-average quality Jordan release in the last two years. Even with the hype of the Gamma 11s and black and red Retro 1, expect the ‘Taxis’ to drop with much fanfare and for good reason.

The ‘Taxis’ and the accompanying apparel collection release on December 14th.
