Ok, so it’s not exactly the outrageous $180M claim people were making last fall when the Andrew-Wiggins-will-reconfigure-how-we-watch-the-game-of-basketball-and-he-better-live-up-to-these-expectations-or-else hype was in full swing.

But the 2014 first overall draft pick has inked his deal with adidas, the brand he wore during his lone season at the University of Kansas. The numbers floating in the air for now are five years good for anywhere between $10-12M which includes shoes and apparel.

Wiggins is expected to become the first top draft pick to sign with adidas since Derrick Rose in 2008. While the Three Stripes may never catch up to the Swoosh – along with Jordan Brand, they reportedly hold 95% of the market for basketball shoes – they do have a nice stable of young talent with Rose, Damian Lillard, John Wall, this year’s No. 5 pick in Dante Exum and, of course, Wiggins.

With Andrew firmly in place, the city of Cleveland continues to place sole focus on a particular meeting being held in Las Vegas today. A meeting that could go down as one of the most important in basketball history in hindsight 20 years from now.
