It wasn’t until years down the line did I learn 1994’s Angels In The Outfield was a remake of a 1951 film by the same name. Nevertheless, the Danny Glover, Christopher Lloyd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt version sticks to the ribs because of how foolishly believable it seemed to an impressionable eight-year-old mind at the time.
That and Stoney Jackson (“Ray Mitchell” in the movie) was my second grade teacher’s nephew. Or maybe it was godson. Either way she was related to the guy in some form and the movie always had a personal touch in that regard.
Those of you who grew up in the ’90s like yours truly can click play and reminisce on one of the better feel-good movies of our youth. Those who came along later, click play and put yourself up on game.
If only Angels In The Secondary could come true for the Cowboys this year.
