Azealia Banks Begs Universal To Drop Her Since “Old White Guys” Don’t Know What To Do With Her

For as much as Azealia Banks and her would-be nemesis Angel Haze would say they’re different, they’re both very much the same, at least in terms of where they stand with their labels. A few short weeks ago, Haze decided to skip the label red tape and rigamarole to leak her debut album, Dirty Gold, after she grew tired of seeing it collect dust on the shelves at Island/Republic. Haze threw in some words about doing it for fans for good measure.

Since they’ve done almost everything together, Azealia Banks followed her counterpart’s move by taking to her own Twitter on Sunday “begging to be dropped from Universal.” She wants XL, she wants Sony, she wants anyone besides “having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft.”

Let’s take it to the tweets.

Does she have a point?

Maybe, maybe not. But the people who she’s probably directing these messages at are at the Grammys, three drinks into having an amazing night that doesn’t include the words “Azealia Banks.”

Currently, Broke With Expensive Taste is slated for a March release.
